Quick poha breakfast served in a plate

Mornings are madness, at least when you are trying to get everyone organized so as to get a good breakfast as well. But hey, guess what? You do not require the chic ingredients or time spent in the kitchen. These are 5 of our favorite fast Indian breakfasts that take less than 10 min to make them tasty, full, and ideal when you are short on time in the morning.

 1. Poha (Flattened Rice Delight)

Poha is a very simple Indian breakfast. You just require some soaked poha, mustard seeds, curry leaves, onion, and turmeric. Combine all and cook in a pan, 5-7 minutes and you are done! To add some flavor, add some peanuts or squeeze some lemon.

Tip: If you want the poha to cook quickly use thin poha.

 2. Bread Upma

Leftover bread? Turn it into a spicy comfort food in no time. Cut pieces off the bread, fry with some onion, tomato, and some masalas and it is done. Garnish with some coriander or even add a dash of cheese to it if the kids take a liking to it.

Tip: It is really good: Weekend breakfast or quick evening snack too!

3. Fast Rava Idli

Too little time to wait on batter? No problem! Add sooji or rava, curd, and baking soda or Eno (a pinch of either). Cook in the steamer, 8-10 minutes and you have soft, fluffy idlis. Serve it with chutney or even plain curd.

Tip: You can use silicon molds and microwave them to speed things up.

 4. Masala Omelette Toast

Eggs are a time-saving resource on days when you are short of time. Beat the 2 eggs with onion, chilli, salt and turmeric. On the hot tawa, cook along with the toasting bread. It took less than 6 minutes to make and it is also very healthy.

Add on thought: Put the omelette in between the toast with some ketchup and make a sandwich.

5. Banana and Q Peanut Butter Chilla

Looking to something sweet and healthy? Mash a ripe banana and add some besan (gram flour),water and a pinch of cardamom to it. Slop it onto a pan like a pancake and fry them both sides up. It is eternally sweet and full of energy.

Best fit to: Kids or anyone who does not like spicy breakfasts.

Conclusions

Breakfast does not have to be a chore. These are good fast Indian breakfast ideas that will help you start your day properly even when you over-indulged in the snooze button.
